Some drawings from the last weeks,
First some things for Issue #2 of NARAKA, containing stories about Portland, Montreal and more “personal stuff”

Then some drawings made for a friend to add some spice into a presentation about a specific bone:

And random hip looking people:

ETPLUS:
- Iron Man 2 was OK but felt too long
- I have a COLD! and that seems cosmically unfair considering the unbelievable summer weather here in Montreal
- The new albums by THE NATIONAL and Hannah Georgas are fun!
- Valve just releases Half-Life 2 with its episodes for the mac!
- I`m reading Although Of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself: A Road Trip with David Foster Wallace and it is hard to put down

Hello hello,
Christmas is around the corner, my train tickets for Seattle are booked and I`m trying to finish a comic page every day.
This is not really working so far thanks to me not really hitting the tone I want to hit with some of the drawings.
Take the following one for example, it SHOULD show some rough treasure hunting dudes (for the first time) on their way deeper into a foreign jungle.
I drew them on the Wacom, I drew them with pencil and then with the Wacom again.. still.. its not the look I wanted them to have..

I also don’t like the fact that they are not DOING anything. They pose for an invisible camera and the panel tells nothing more than show their faces. Hmpf..
My deadline is still far away in the next year so fumbling around like this is OK but it still sucks to waste so much time and it does not feel good.
ON A HAPPIER NOTE:
I finished THE HOBBIT and its a way looser and quicker book than I remembered.
It really feels like something that could be read to children over a couple of weeks.
One thing that made me wonder though..
Balin`s (one of the Dwarfs) clear love for our main Hobbit.. was Tolkien hinting at some small-men-love going on?
Here is a drawing of Balin saying farewell to his “friend”.

Happy holidays to everyone in Germany and everywhere else, I will post some Seattle pictures after the weekend and I hope everyone gets very expensive stuff they dont really need but REALLY want.

Hei Vancouver, it was nice meeting you:

I just realized that there are nearly no humans EVER in my photographs. WEIRD!
Vancouver was nice, the hostel was great and it was entertaining to talk to all those travelling folks.
Not so nice:
- very loud snoring Korean guy
- the US boarder people harassing and mind-raping me
- a big headache
But I now have a Work and Travel Visa and everything worked out great.
Also:
Thanks to the formidable Sam Bosma, I started reading the Hobbit again (the last time being more then 14 years ago). And I’m proud to say that I must have bought the best edition available, look at this cover:

Its fat Ricky Garvais!
I’m now off to work on a Illustration thing containing Ninjas, Turtles and some teeth!
Have a good week!

Hi,
this is what I drew while sitting on the train, traveling to my parents home:
(all while having to deal with a garlic smelling seat neighbour)

ALSO:

AND please note that ninjas, zombies and pirates are DONE and make room for the new guys:
Astronaut, Mummy, Yeti!

(thanks also to Ms. Tiff for the plug on her excellent blog)
and
Have a great weekend!

Hello!
Apart from reworking the site, I´m currently trying to get a better hang of drawing in FLASH after having read this great Posts about it.
Its not really easy and I tend to screw up things after investing at least half an hour of drawing time.. but I´m curious to see if this could be good way to ink some comics.
ET PLUS:
I´ll do more Album Covers, Posters, things to get more meat into my Portfolio. Environments are also still sadly very blatantly missing from that part of the website. And I´ll try to draw a picture for everything I review/talk about. GO GO GO NEW BLOG!

I tend to read books from authors I “know” a lot more then experimenting with the unknown writer.
That’s why this is another post about work from David Foster Wallace (but it could also have been Haruki Murakami for that matter).
Reading his various essays is just pure entertainment without ever feeling ashamed or dumb. His topics have a huge range (from David Lynch to the life of a bottom Pro-Tennis player and to the heart of the book, his experience on a cruise ship). Its laugh out loud funny at times (please excuse that phrase, but I DID giggle a lot reading this during my daily commute) while always being smart and focused.
You always feel Wallace directly talking to you and you really tend to “get” his character as a human being through this texts.
