SKETCHBOOK and more

Some new sketches:

GOOD MOVIE:

And i´ve managed to see Ponyo and i really liked it allot.

I had heard mixed things about the new Ghibli movie and read weird reviews like this one, but there is nothing to complain about it from my side.

Its just a friendly and touching movie about two kids really liking each other. As with Totoro and Kiki, there is no villain or scheme going on.. just nature itself as an obstacle. The sea itself is one of the main characters and incredibly animated. A perfect Sunday movie that will make you feel uplifted and happy.

GOOD BOOKS:

“The Happiest Man in the World buoyantly describes seventy-four-year-old David Pearlman, a restless and migratory soul, a mariner, a musician, a member of the Explorers Club and a friend of the San Francisco Beats, a former preacher and sign painter, a polymath, a pauper, and a football strategist for the Red Mesa Redskins of the Navajo Nation.

Inspired by Thor Heyerdahl and Kon-Tiki, Neutrino is the only man ever to build a raft from garbage he found on the streets of New York and sail it across the North Atlantic. ..”

“Novelist Wallace (Infinite Jest) might just be the smartest essayist writing today. His topics are various—this new collection treats porn, sports autobiographies and the vagaries of English usage, among others—his perspective always slightly askew and his observations on point..”

“..Wallace’s words and ideas, as well as a wonderful sense of observation that makes even the most shopworn themes seem fresh, should suffice.”

COMICS: Things to not do while being drunk

Never a good idea and therefore merits a comic:

SKETCHBOOK: July

Bought the small Watercolor Moleskine and i´m liking it a lot so far.

It took me a while to find the next book and i have to admit in getting weirder and weirder with sketchbooks. That does not mean that i´m dating books, trying to get them drunk, but its not unsual for me to buy a couple of different sketchbooks, start drawing in them and then throw them in the trash (or give them away).

Its like meeting someone you have to work with and had high hopes in for the first time, then realizing that its “just not working out”. You could try to get used to it, but trying something new is easier, shopping for books is fun and it also helps our economy!
